Potty Thoughts

Ok, so I have been contemplating "toilet training". As I am posting this, Kya is looking at the picture and saying "hi potty". Ever since she was about 8 months old, she has told us when she would poop, she would go to a corner and say "poop". Now when she wets, she grabs herself and says "a mess". She is too smart. So we are thinking it is time to introduce the potty. Any suggestions or tips on how to do this. I am excited and a little nervous. But "it is time" (Lion King quote). I hope I managed to post this in a tasteful fashion, please excuse the "potty talk".

All I can say is, good luck, I hate this part of parenting, but like everything else you do, you will probably sail through this unscathed and Kya will pick it up in a week and la la la la de da! Here is my one piece of advice, be patient and recognize this is something totally new and foreign to her, and if you find she is not ready, be willing to put it away for another 6 months.

Right around Chloe's first birthday she really started showing interest, so we bought her a little potty (more for the sake of familiarizing herself with it and "practicing" than anything else. She's just started actually going in the potty within the last month, and through my little experience, I think the best advice I could offer is this. DON'T push it! Even if Kya goes in the potty once and seems all pumped about it, don't expect that she's magically trained, or will continue wanting to go in the potty every single time she needs to. There are days Chloe wants nothing to do with the potty, and I'm afraid if I make a big deal out of it, that will put our goal of having her 100% potty trained off even further! Just don't make it a big deal, and when she's really ready, it'll happen!

I always thought I would have my kids potty trained before they were two. I tried with Macy and she does pretty good some days, but I can just tell she's not quite ready yet so I just don't push it. Brady, well he's clueless he'll probably be 3 before I start with him. If you get it figured out make sure to let me know your secret!

Ha! good luck with that. i tried for a few days, but she just sits on it, says "psss..." grunts, then says "All done" and nothing ever really comes out...she waits till the diaper is back on. If you figure how to do it, you'll have to let me in on the trick.

Good Luck! Bry's not even close to potty training! But, my friend swears by a book... not quite sure the title... but potty training in 1 day... somthing like that. Worked for all 3 of her kids!
