Halloween 2012

As always, I love halloween.  I love that we get to dress up and pretend for one night.  I love that my kids get into the holiday as much as I do.  I love that they are creative and like to do crafts.  Its all great to me.  Kya decorated her pumpkin like a peacock and won 2nd Place Overall.  She is quite the artist.  I am her classroom mom and got to put together the halloween party.  The kids had a good time with a witches hat ring toss, pin the spider on the haunted house and making handprint spiders.
Halloween evening we had a trunk-r-treat at the stake center then a chilli dinner.  Yummy.  Our costumes this year...Wizard of Oz.  I found Kya's Dorothy costume at Once Upon a child for just $6 and then Zander's Lion costume at DI for $2.  Carl's Wizard costume was about $10 from DI and I found my dress at DI for $30.  It was a wedding dress that I dyed pink.  My crown is some old cutting boards I had cut up and spray painted.  I love making our costumes, so much more than buying them as is.  Its fun to make something new out of something old.  I mentioned that it would be fun to have a baby by halloween so that we had a scarecrow or tinman...months before halloween.  Zander remembered that and asked where our baby was.  So we spray painted a doll silver to be the tinman and I had a little scarecrow, that he carried around with him.
