Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve at my parents house where we celebrated in our traditional way. Clam chowder soup and eggnog dinner, reading the scriptures in Luke 2, the story of Jesus while the kids act out the nativity scene. Kya wanted to be the cow.

Kya in character...you won't find a better cow in the nativity scene on Christmas Eve. This girl knows how to act out any animal...she's a natural.

'Tis the season to serve...

My mom had a super great idea this year. She wanted to take her kids and grandkids that were in town for the holidays to the Humanitarian Center for the church and do hygiene kits. It was so fun and Kya and the other kids really got into it and worked hard. They each brought a toy from home to donate to DI...and Kya brought a couple dresses that she's grown out of.

It was such a great time to teach our kids to serve others...especially when they receive so much for Christmas.

Mollie and Kya were in charge of the combs and toothbrushes...they did such and awesome job.

Christmas Lights

Family Home Evening before Christmas we drove up the south hills to see the lights and feed the camel. What an amazing job they have done to entertain us here in the Magic Valley. The kids love seeing the lights...guess what shhhh...so do I.

My new "stach"

Ok, so a little update of my latest. I have been home recovering from my surgery to fix my broken nose. It has not been comfortable at all. It has been really nice having my mom around. She has spent everyday this week at my house taking care of the kids while I rest. Carl took a picture of me in the recovery room after surgery. Obviously I am still out of it a bit. He thought my new "hitler stach" was pretty nice. Had to wear this for three days before the bleeding really stopped enough to just pat my nose dry. I still have the splints in my nose until next tuesday and they are really driving me crazy. Headaches, conjestion, my face just aches and my teeth hurt. I am not sure how much is from the surgery and how much is still from the accident. I finally got dressed and went out yesterday...it felt good to get up...but it felt even better to get home and lay down. I look forward to the day when I can blow my nose again.
Christmas is just around the corner and I would really like to be able to feel good by then. I am sure I will, it just feels like the days go by so slow when you are just sitting around doing nothing. A big change from my usual schedule.
The upside and best part of all of this is that I have had a lot of time to just hang out with my kiddos. Zander is such a cuddler that he will just sit with me and watch a movie...I love it. He is such a mammas boy, he always wants me to hold him. His latest, he will tap me on my shoulder or arm, say "mom" and then point to something he wants to show me. It cracks me up. Kya has loved the time she has spent with Grandma Morgan too. She has been a big helper getting Christmas ready and wrapping gifts. She really is a little mom to Zander. So I guess if it takes a broken nose and surgery to slow me down and chill with my beautiful children...then it was all worth it.
I got all my Christmas shopping done before the surgery and I can't wait to see the kids faces on Christmas morning. Kya totally gets into it, but this is Zander's first Christmas where I think he will really care and get excited. I love watching the kids get excited about things. Zander gets even more excited when he sees his sister jumping up and down with thrill.
We got some more snow today too...I really hope it stays around long enough for us to have a white Christmas. I love the holidays, just wish I wasn't so miserable right now. Well, that's enough complaining for now...I am too tired now.

Gingerbread house

Kya really wanted to make a gingerbread house...and since I've been layed up this week with time on my hands...we make one. A kit from Walmart...but we still made one.

Santa came to Anytime Fitness

We had our first Christmas party at the gym last Saturday. Santa came and the kids were loving it. Kya just sat on his lap for 15 or so minutes. She was just cuddling up to Santa...I think she thinks that will help her chances with getting what she asked Santa for.

Man those are some cute kids...I am just crazy about them.
