Standards Concert

Last friday I took the kids to see The Standards.  The brother singing group from Twin Falls, they are big now living in Nashville now.  They are on tour through the western states.  The Williams brothers were good friends of mine in college and it was so great to see them again in concert and get a chance to talk to them again.  Morgan and I were great friends.  Jordan and I went on a friendly date and Nick and I went on a date too.  Nate and Quinn are little younger than me so I didn't know them as well...but these guys are great and they have great music.

The kids had such a great time.  We sat up high in the upper balcony until they decided to run down to the stage and dance around.

I thought for sure that Zander was going to run on stage and sing with the guys...but he was able to contain himself and just dance on the stairs.

My friendly little social boy was making friends with some other kids that were sitting hear us.  He kept saying that he wanted to "see the guys".

Kya and Zander fell asleep while in line to chat with the guys and to get their autographs.  It was a late night for us all.

Conversations with Zander

Zander:  What daddy doing?
Me:  He's packing to go hunting
Zander:  I go hunting too?
Me:  Ok, maybe when you get bigger
Zander:  I too big...I eat breakfast and I get too big.

He has been asking all day to go hunting with daddy.  It is so cute.

Another conversation with Kya

Putting Kya to bed tonight...this is our conversation.  I was reading to her...we are almost done reading "Charlotte's Web".  We read the part where Charlotte dies.

Kya:  "Why did Charlotte die?"
Me: "Cuz she was old and she worked very hard...it was her time to go"
Kya:  "I don't want to die ever"
Me:  "Why?  I don't want you to die either, but when its time, we all die sometime.  Then we go to Heaven and live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  Don't you want to be in heaven?"
Kya:  "How many sleeps will I be in heaven?"
Me:  "For forever"
Kya:  "I don't want to be in heaven for forever"
Me:  "why not"
Kya:  "I want to stay here for forever, I want to be with Mommy, Daddy, and Zander for forever"
Me:  "Well, guess what, we will be together for forever because we went to the temple as a family"

She wipes her eyes and rolled over to go to sleep.  Said she wasn't crying, but I could see the joy in her eyes.  I love that girl.  I am so grateful that Carl and I have Kya and Zander in our family forever.

View of Twin Falls

Saturday, Carl and I went on a helicopter ride over Twin Falls.  You know, Twin Falls really is beautiful from the air.  Here are a few pictures we captured...and when I say "we", I mean Carl.  He sat in the front, so I gave him the camera and I think he did a pretty good job.  Maybe we should do a photography business together...lol.

First Day of School

So, today was the first day of kindergarten for Kya.  She has been counting the "sleeps" until school starts.  She was excited to get started with school...of course she doesn't usually show much emotion...she was excited.  Which in turn, made me excited for her.  She needs this.  She is so smart and creative, it will be great for her to be in school...an avenue for her to learn and create.

We planned out her outfit the night before, and she even drew me some pictures of how she would like her hair done for school.  I love that about her.  She went with purple for her first day.  Isn't she cute.

I went a little crazy with the pictures...here are just a few...

Daddy came home 3 days early from his hunting trip...he decided he didn't want to miss her first day of kindergarten.  We are glad to have him home.

Then there is Zander...he really wanted to be in class with Kya.  When we explained that he needed to grow up a little bigger before he could go to school...he told us all day long the he is "too big" and would stand tall, on his tippy toes showing us how "too big" he is.  The sun was actually too bright for him in this picture...but I thought it was appropriate for the story, looks like he is sad to see his sister go...which he was.

But he still has Pepper to play with.

What a good girl...doing just what the teacher asked.  Her teacher is Mrs. Anderson.

And there she goes...off into the world.  She is now tainted by the world and no longer in my protection from this crazy world.  She will now hear things from other kids and bring it home to question what she has heard.  I hope she just listened to what she is learning in school and continues to grow academically...:)

I just hope she remembers what we taught her and talked to her about just before leaving for the big wide world..."love all people, and be kind to everyone"

Good Luck Kya...we will always be here for you in your safe haven...home.

When we got home, I told Kya to change out of her school clothes and put on her play clothes...Zander decided to get undressed and put on another outfit because he is "too big".  What a funny kid.
