Memorial Day Weekend camping

We went camping for Memorial Day weekend, five days, four nights of no house work, honey do's, work, stress....nothing but spending time with my kids and hubby. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend. Kya and I had so much fun laughing this weekend. Poor girl has been put off lately. We had so much fun with family too. I love campfire food, conversations and of course relaxation. We had a couple evenings of rain and thunderstorms, but we survived.
Spending some quality time with little Z while he naps.

He's a true camper...he loved being outdoors. He was very observant of the trees, water in the creek and all the "new" things around him.

Taking a walk

Kya was having a blast fishing, and throwing rocks in the creek. One time I ask her to do something and she said, "um, well, I'm fishing". Grandma W made her a little fishing pole from a stick and she caught at least 5 fish on that thing....the first day.

Daddy's little girl.

Carl was great....he washed my hair for me. We were out there for five days, so I had to clean up sometime....true camping experience.

Kya needed to wipe "Maxi Dog's" nose. She spent more time with the dog than anyone else. She would just stand next to him and kept hugging him and saying, "he's hungry", trying to feed him rocks, grass, leaves, anything she could find.
Chillin' with my chilins around the campfire

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers and Mother-in-Waiting and Mothers-to-Be.

Just a few thoughts on Mother's Day.

This Mother's Day I can actually say that I know what it is like to be a real mom. Kya was too easy, the stink spoiled me rotten. I am now sleep deprived, short tempered, achy, never getting anything done (on time), and not fun....and loving every minute. Ok, not really, I wish I could sleep more. My sweet little boy likes to spend as much time with his mommy as possible. My arms are alway full, and he especially likes his quiet moments with me in the middle of the night. How sweet, huh?

NO....I love him to pieces...but I want more sleep. Poor Kya feels like she's been put aside...maybe a tad. She is so sweet and patient with me. She now wants me to dress her again, help her potty more and "hold you" all the time. Why not, baby brother gets that same attention, why not her, right?

So, Kya and I have been reading A LOT more, and laughing more. When I said I know what it is like to actually be a mom now....I do. Let me share a recent day I had. Got up, dress and ready to go by 9:00 am...doing great so far. Had some errands to run to get my house ready for a party. I was in a store when Zander started to cry....he wanted to be held, he does that (a lot). May I remind you that we are about 45 to an hour from feeding. Before I could get to my son and pick him up, a lady comes around the corner and in a very RUDE tone says, "feed that baby, he's hungry...you need to feed that baby". Of course my response was WEAK...."Thank you man, I will when its time". She walked away muttering under her breath, "that's ridiculous, I would never starve my children". My son is not starving, he eats more than his fair share....trust me.

So I'm a bit peeved at this point. Well, we go to meet Carl for lunch (wahoo....he's in town) and I am telling my little experience. Of course he had his own choice words he would have shared with her. I love that he sticks up for me. Then Kya decides she wants to be a "true" 2 1/2 year old. Throwing a few screaming fits in the middle of the restaurant. I had a lovely (large) audience...some were even laughing. Which got me laughing....deep down. Actually, with the day I was having, really you couldn't do anything else but laugh. Kinda wish I had it on video.

I love being a Mother...especially now....Carl asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day, I said, "two nights this weekend where I get to sleep through the night". Wish granted, Carl got up with both our sick kids the last two nights and let me sleep.

Of course a fun video of Zander learning his first trick with daddy....just like Kya and daddy.
