Little Life Lessons

So, Carl wanted potatoes for dinner, but we didn't have any. Since it is sunday, I didn't want to go to the store...I borrowed some from my sister. As I was walking out to the car to run over to my sisters I had the thought three times "Put some shoes on". Of course I ignored the thought and went barefoot anyway. On the way home I took a little detour to look at our new church building and all of the sudden I heard a loud "pop". My tire blew. I didn't have a cell phone, no shoes on and about a mile from home. Nice, huh! Should have listened to the still small voice and I would have been able to walk home. However, I did learn a little life lesson from this.
Friday Night Date Night
It's time again to share and get back into the habit of posting our Friday Night Date Nights. At first our plan was to go to the Planetarium and watch the "Outrageous Rock" show, but our plans were changed when we got a call about an Elder's Quorum party. We went to the park, played Frisbee Golf and has Root Beer Floats. We missed out on the Bocci ball because Kya had been running a fever all day and so we went home to put her to bed. Not sure if her fever was just random or her molars are trying to come in. We will wait and see. After she was sound asleep and at a cool 100.3*, grandma offered to keep an eye on her and Carl and I took off for a night ride on the motorcycle for just a 30 minute ride. This live in babysitter thing is great. We should probably take more opportunities to use it, but we just love dating with Kya too. The next morning Kya was at a regular 98.6*. That was weird. She just wasn't acting like herself. Kya's latest, she has become a picky eater in the last two days. Crazy, she normally would put down anything we put in front of her. Now she spits food out and wrinkles her nose at a lot of food. No new pictures this post, sorry. Kya is still beautiful and growing fast.

Lazy Blogger!
I have really been slacking on the blog thing. Between traveling every weekend (just short trips, visiting family) and being completely enthralled with reading
and loving every minute of it. Plus, Kya is a lot more active and so I of course have been playing with her more. In fact, as I am posting this, she is in the kitchen signing "eat" and tapping on the pantry door. It's 8:30 am and apparently she wants to eat breakfast. Yesterday she decided she wanted to just take one three hour nap in the middle of the day. I did get a lot of reading done, the rest of the day she wanted me to read to her, and listen to her play the keyboard and dance. She is so much fun. Of course the first thing to go is blogging.
I am not sure how well I will keep up with it, because I am totally excited about a new project opportunity I have been given, which again, will take up my time. I am doing my dream job, I get to decorate an office building. The dream part comes in with the decorating.
So, now that I have explained my laziness, as I am trying to write this one-handed, feeding Kya yogurt with the other hand, while she is trying to climb over my shoulder signing and saying "more please" after each bite. I love being a mother, it keeps me busy, I LOVE IT! Please excuse the slow posting as a result. My priorities come with Kya. Having said that, please keep an eye out for some future great posts. I will try to maintain a weekly update. I do love reading others blogs too, so keep them coming.

Kya's Birthday Party
Kya had an awesome birthday party. She was really into it and loved opening her gifts, really she just loved taking the paper out and ripping it up and handing it to Nate to throw away. What a fun Friday Night Date Night. She is so cute and we are so happy to have had her a year now. The time has really gone by way too fast.

She loved getting into her cake. Once daddy showed her that she could dig in and then she figured it tasted great, she was all over that cake. Happy Birthday to the cutest one year old in the world. http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=8472663145623680985&hl=en" flashvars="">

Top Ten Reasons We Love Kya! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to our little girl. Today she celebrates her 1 year birthday. Well, her mom celebrates it more than she does right now, but what fun is life without birthdays? Kya was one year old at 6:27 this morning. Daddy wanted to wake her up to wish her a happy birthday at 6:27, but I told him he had better wait until she is a bit older and can appreciate that, but for now, while she loves her sleep, let her be. She didn't wake up until 8:00 anyway. I love birthdays, and so I figure that until my daughter tells me otherwise, I am going to make it a big deal for her too.

Kya is the light of our lives and we wanted to share with you the top ten reasons we love her. Of course there are a million reasons we love her, here are just a few.
10. She has become a real cuddler...I call them Huggles.
9. She gets so excited when "daddy" walks in the door. She can hear him from almost a mile away.
8. She bites my lip when she gives me a kiss.
7. I love that she crawls now and giggles when she comes to me.
6. She has the cutest giggle-fuss when she sees her bottles.
5. She signs to us and communicates very well. She loves to talk, and I love to listen.
4. She is my "dancing queen". Music is a big part of who she is.
3. Kya loves animals and she giggles everytime she sees them.
2. She toss and turns in her bed so much that she comes up with the funniest positions.
1. She makes the funniest faces, especially with her cute little teeth trying to fill her mouth. What a ham!
*All time favorite thing we love...She is a part our eternal family!
